2026 1st Quarterly Safety Walk with EV Construction at Porter Hills: The H.I.V.E.

Join ASA Michigan and EV Construction for an exclusive, on-site look at proactive safety management during one of the region’s most anticipated senior living expansions.

For our first Quarterly Safety Walk of the year, we are heading to the Porter Hills Senior Retirement Community for a deep dive into The H.I.V.E. (Health, Innovation, Vitality, and Engagement). This ambitious project, managed by EV Construction, is a multi-phase development designed to redefine senior living through cutting-edge design and functional excellence.

Note: This event is only available to ASAM Members.

What to Expect

This isn’t just a site tour—it’s an educational walk-through of a “live” job site during high-activity phases. Led by the EV Construction project team, attendees will get a first-hand look at the safety protocols and coordination required for:

  • Structural Steel Work: Observing safety tie-offs, crane coordination, and overhead hazard management.
  • Building Exterior: A look at the safety measures involved in building envelope installation and scaffolding.
  • Underground Infrastructure: Reviewing trench safety, utility coordination, and site logistics.

Safety in Action: The EV Way

Beyond the physical construction, EV Construction will share insights into their industry-leading safety culture. Attendees will learn about:

  • The Site Safety Committee: How EV utilizes a collaborative committee to identify hazards before they become incidents.
  • Proactive vs. Reactive: A discussion on the specific proactive efforts—from daily huddles to tech-driven tracking—that keep The H.I.V.E. project running safely and on schedule.

Why Attend?

Whether you are a safety director, a project manager, or a business owner, these walks offer a unique opportunity to see how fellow ASA members navigate complex safety challenges. It’s a chance to take “best practices” off the printed page and see them implemented in the field.

Required PPE: All attendees must bring the following to participate in the walk:

  • Hard Hat
  • High-Visibility Vest/Clothing
  • Safety Glasses
  • Steel Toed Work Boots
