More than 1.3 million women work in construction across the United States — representing approximately 11–14% of the industry’s workforce, with just 5% in hands-on trade roles. While the presence of women in construction has grown significantly over the past decade, they still face higher turnover rates and remain underrepresented in leadership and on-site roles.
That’s exactly why recognition matters.
This March, in honor of Women in Construction Month, the American Subcontractors Association of Michigan (ASAM) is proud to launch our Women In Construction Spotlight Series — a month-long celebration honoring the women who lead teams, strengthen companies, and move our industry forward every day.
Throughout March, we’ll be sharing stories from the field — highlighting women who build, lead, problem-solve, innovate, and make a measurable impact across our member companies.
